District Nurses

home_visitDistrict Nurses are qualified nurses who care for patients in their own homes. They have had extra training to enable them to advise patients on nursing problems.

The District Nurse will teach patients about self care and will show carers how to cope in their absence. Their duties range from dressings, injections etc to care of the terminally ill.

District Nurse are based in centralised teams throughout the City and can visit housebound people who need nursing care. Initial requests for District Nursing care will be dealt with by the practice who can then give you details of the team which you have been allocated to.
